India and Pakistan celebrate Independence Day together at Masala
Desi Correspondent15 August, Second Life's Masala community celebrated Independence Day at Masala Mall on Saturday. Event holds significance as such events are unimaginable in real life. Both Indian and Pakistani SL residents celebrated their indepedence together at Masala. National flags of both the countries were seen flying side-by-side. The event witnessed desis dancing on patriotic songs and wearing outfits with national flags.
Masala Mall owner Perdita Lacey said, "Masala means a mixture and that is our ethos, so people from both sides celebrate together here."
"It is all about masala people, celebration and music," Lacey added.
Desis who attended the function were happy being together and talked about love and unity between the two nations."I feel Masala unites Pakistani brothers and Indian brothers," said Ankush Jonson.
Also, desis loved the idea of celebrating the day together.
"This event is all about happiness," said Waqas Rau.
Ria Revnik said, “This is the best place for desis on SL".
SL desi community is a mixture of people from different parts of the world. It mainly consists of people from India, Pakistan, Bangladesh and many non residents.
Masala is the most famous desi place on SL.
